어제 레터에서 ‘업무상 약점에 대한 답변’ 어떻게 하면 좋을까? 인트로를 커버했어요.

채용을 진행하는 리쿠르터 뿐만아니라 2차 혹은 3차 면접에서 마주하게 되는 테이블 건너편의 혹은 카메라 너머의 인터뷰어는 수많은 후보를 볼거잖아요 👀

같은 질문을 여러 후보들에게 던질텐데요, 실제 면접에서 간혹 인터뷰어 표정이나 리액션이 쏘울리스 😂 인게 느껴질 때가 있었어요. 이해가 갑니다. 비슷한 답변을 얼마나 반복해서 듣겠어요 😇

인상적인 답변을 하기 위해 (오히려 역효과 ☠️) 오버할 필요는 없지만, 특히 ‘업무 상 약점이 무엇인지?’와 같은 질문을 받았을 때, 관건은… ‘진정성’이라고 생각해요.

그런데 답변에 ‘진정성’을 띄우려면 필연적으로 ‘스토리텔링’이 들어갈 수밖에 없고요 😉

‘그래, 알겠어. 진정성… 스토리텔링… 그런데 한국어로도 스토리를 넣는 건 너무 어렵지 않나? 🥲’

맞습니다 😇 자칫 잘못하다간… 스토리가 🌋 산으로 가고 산이 만리장성이 되고, 맞은편의 인터뷰어 눈에 촛점이 흐릿하고 😂 그래서 우리는 ‘연습’ 해야합니다.

😍 우리의 미션은 완벽한 문법이나, 억양에 얽매이는 게 아니라

나의 생각과 의견을 맞은편의 인터뷰어에게 ‘명료’하게 전달하는 것이에요.

🆀. 업무상 ‘약점’이 어떻게 되나요?

"My weakness is that I find public speaking challenging. I would love to be more confident when presenting to large groups.

I recall a particular instance when I had to present our new product features to the entire team at my previous job. I felt quite nervous and worried that my colleagues would notice.

However, I am actively improving in this area. Instead of avoiding the situation, I decided to ask a colleague who was really good at presentations for some advice. I figured there's no point struggling alone when someone on my team could help me out.

We decided to present in a podcast-style format where we would have a conversation about the new product features. During the presentation, my colleague started first, and then I joined in. This approach made me less nervous, and after about a minute, my voice began to stabilize.

When I had to present solo on another product launch, my manager and I came up with a strategy, ‘practice at least ten times’ beforehand and get feedback from a colleague right before presenting.

My colleague suggested I focus on being serious and informative rather than trying to be overly cheerful, which really helped.

That day, I received three positive evaluations from both my colleagues and manager for the clear information delivery.

I still find presentations challenging, but when opportunities come up, I don't run away. Instead, I continue working to overcome this challenge through preparation and seeking support from my team."
